House Update

I thought you may be curious to see how our house is coming along. We are in the homestretch... and in our 9th month of construction! 9 months. And this certainly has felt like birthing a child (not to mention I actually did birth a child during this renovation)!

Let's see... they are painting now, finishing trim work and tile work, getting ready to stain the floors. We still need to put the carpet in upstairs. I'm waiting on my farmhouse apronfront sink to arrive (that has been an ordeal). Once that gets here, we'll measure for the granite countertops. Then, it is basically time to close on the loan and MOVE IN!

Check out our house blog. Lots of new pictures!

Rory is 5 Months

Okay... so I'm a little late in posting this. In fact, she's probably closer to 6 months now. Oh well! Rory is getting so big! Here's what she's been up to:
-eating solid foods
-first time a babysitter put her to bed
-stayed all weekend at my parents' without me
-My favorite thing that she does is hold my face with her tiny hands and just smile and talk. If I could translate, I'm pretty sure she is telling me how much she loves me!
-She still eats 5 times a day, but I'm hoping to drop one meal very soon.
On another note, Sinclair had her first haircut ever this week. Her hair was so pretty and long, but it was a beast to brush out after bath time. It was down to the middle of her back so we cut probably 4 inches off. I miss the really long hair but it was good to get the baby hair off.
On a personal note, I had the opportunity to travel to Gainesville, GA to speak at a Disciple Now retreat for middle school and high schoolers. I spoke about community-- how God created us to not live life alone; how to love difficult people in your community; the need to serve your community; the need to influence your community. It was the first time I've spoken since April. Everything was great... and exhausting. It's tough traveling to speak and then come home to resume normal mommy duties. I am just now starting to recover.
